COLERAINE manager Rodney McAree believes this weekend's trip to Wales in the Irn-Bru Cup could be just the tonic his players need after a less than convincing start to the new season.
The Bannsiders fell to their first league defeat in almost 12 months at the weekend when they were comprehensively beaten by Glenavon at a stunned Showgrounds.
The defeat, coupled with other results, sees Coleraine drop to fifth in the table, ten points behind Gary Hamilton's side who lead the way in the Danske Bank Premiership.
McAree's men get a break from league action on Saturday when they face Welsh Premier League leaders Connah's Quay in the Principality.
"The Irn-Bru Cup offers us the opportunity to get time away as a group and we have to make the most of that," said McAree.
"We also have to make sure we're ready to go when we get back."
